SpriteSpot Video Tech Tips

Torquing the Cylinder Head

This video describes how to correctly torque your cylinder head. Note that John quotes a torque of 55 ft-lbs, which is correct only for the later (1275) engines with the upgraded studs (which can be identified by a "dimple" in the end of the stud).

Bugeyes use a weaker stud (without a dimple) and should only be torqued to 40 ft-lbs (and of course the rocker studs are only torqued to 25 ft-lbs.)

Remember that you must adjust your valves after torquing your cylinder head.
