What's my correct colour name

Postby pacomb » Wed May 18, 2011 12:32 pm

Hello all,

Need to get a small spray can to make some minor body repairs. I am 99% sure the colour of my nw car is Riviera Blue, but on the BMC Colour chart, there are plenty or similar blue's, and as my car has an old paint, I cant be totaly sure.

Is there a way with the chassis number to know the exact colour code/name for my car? Chasis number is HAN8L / 63729

The colour of the car can be seen in my restoration blog: http://ahsprite-mk3-restoration.blogspot.com/

Any help?

Hello, I already knew that web page, but thanks. But just because in that web page there are so many different types of blue, I was in doubt if there is an objective way to know from my chassis number the exact colour.... Colours in a computer screen can change greatly.

You can order a heritage certificate that will tell you the color that was on the car when it left the factory. But even the factory colors vary. YOur best bet is to go to an autopaint store that has a color matching system. They can "scan" the color on your car and get a formula to match it (fade and all).

According to Horler's book you car would have been Riviera Blue (BU44)
