MG motor

My Sprite has an MG motor. Is this common or rare for a 1962 model? The previous owner thought this is the original motor. What opinion have ye :?:

The Sprite and Midget used identical engines. The only difference was the little tag attached to the valve cover. The cars were made side by side and alternated RHD and LHD assembly lines from day to day, so it is not inconceivable that they could have accidently put an engine with the MG tag in the car. I would guess that is could be more likely that the valve cover was replaced for some reason during the last 49 - 50 years.
