3/4 bore master cylinder /disk brake bleeding problem

Postby Frogbird » Sun May 07, 2017 6:15 pm

OK, I need some help.
I made the change from 7/8 to 3/4 bore master cylinder because it's supposed to work better with the disk brake conversion I did a year ago on my bugeye.
Installed the master cylinder , bled all brakes multiple times and I have very little peddle. barely stops the car. Reminds me of when I had all leaking drum brakes.
I adjusted the push rod ( which I had shortened to the required length for the 3/4 bore).so it engages and disengages as it should leaving a little lash between in and out.

All components on the system are new, master cylinder, wheel cylinders calipers, brake shoes ,lines etc.

I also tested the master cylinder by disconnecting it from the system and running a brake line i had to a spitter I had with bleeders I had and the pedal was rock hard so this is probably not the master cylinder.

Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks

Here is a comment from the Internet:

My Bugeye Sprite had the same set up and I had the same problem you did.
At least in my situation it turned out that air was trapped in the distribution block.
I ended up having to crack the three lines at the block one at a time and get the air out.
Also made a mess with brake fluid seeping out.
