exhaust manifold paint colour

I have a 61 Bugeye with the original exhaust manifold. I'm switching to a later Mk2 manifold (12A191) because the centre pipe servicing cylinders 2 and 3 is less restrictive. I'd like to know what the original colour, if painted at all, was. "Rust" was a previous response.........
