Wanted: Sebring Sprite Replica Parts

Got parts to sell, buy or trade?

Wanted: Sebring Sprite Replica Parts

Postby thommythommy » Tue Apr 28, 2009 2:11 pm

Looking for bonnet and any other Sebring Sprite Replica Parts (the coupe top would be a HUGE help). I am in the US, and I would prefer to avoid importing these parts. If anyone has anything, or knows a friend- please let me know!

Also, looking for a Judson supercharger (any condition), and a decent 1275 engine.

I am a poor college student, so the price is a big determining factor.

Thanks Guys!

You are looking for some rather pricey items. Expect to pay several thousand $$$ for the lot in reasonably good condition.

Oh, I know. That is one of the reasons I am trying to avoid importing them from the UK. The less hoops I need to run through, the better.

I have always wanted a Sebring Sprite Coupe, but thought it's not available in the US. TommyTommy, please keep us up to date how your progress goes.

Thanks.

I am still researching... I have a few leads that I am looking into- I graduate from my undergrad in a few days, so once that happens I will more time for my 3 bugeye projects.

If worst comes to worst I suppose I will just have the parts sent over from the UK. If I do, I may take it to a molding company and see if I can have some replicas made, if anyone is interested.

With the expressed permission of Archers Garage, of course.

For a recent college grad or soon to be, this is great. I'm sure there are others out there looking for a Sebring Sprite Coupe conversion kit as I do. It is likely that there are some Sprite/Midget Specialists out there who would gladly retail the Sebring kits for you. Good Job.

So... I have decided to take a trip to the UK next month, in part to inspect the Sebring Sprite conversion parts. I am still considering manufacturing derivatives of the parts after I purchase my own set.

More to come on this...

Hi. I'm also interested in Sebring Sprite parts and recently contacted Archers Garage for US importer or distributor info. Although the climate in Texas pretty much rules out the coupe kit (even though it looks cool), I'm in the market for the Sebring nose. I've been kicking around various open car ideas for my next project. It would probably be a street-driven car with a supercharged engine, Sebring nose, headrest fairing and wire wheels. I currently have a '62 Midget vintage racer with a 1275 engine and '62 Sprite project with a 948 engine (disassembled) in my garage. I'm looking for a Frogeye chassis with doors (no bonnet or other parts). I've got lots of engines, suspension and running gear from various cars that I've parted out.

I was in Seattle a while back, and ran across an interesting shop:

Talked to Brad Boswell...an interesting shop, and they seemed to have quite a number of interesting bits and goodies on the shelves. Might be a longshot, but worth a phone call?

I just got an email response from Andrew Forster at Archers Garage. He has offered to quote a price including shipping to my home or closest port city (to reduce costs). I intend to get prices to my home in Dallas and the Port of Houston. Houston is 240 miles away (4 hour drive) and I have a number of friends in the area.

Hi,
Just found this site today, bought my 59 Bugeye last September and I have been trying to find parts.
I did run into someone in Central Falls, R.I. that has a mold for a sebring bonnet, he had two completed noses for sale.
His email is jssprite58@cox.net, hope this is helpful.
Now for me problem I am looking for a good book on how to build up my spare 948 to get the most HP.

As I recall...these guys DID have a Judson in the display case in the shop--not sure it's for sale, but (as with all things) there's a price at which an owner will part with it...

I contacted Joe Sackal at jssprite58@cox.net . He confirmed that he has two "Kelsen bonnets". They cost $650, weigh about 55 lbs and are located in Rhode Island. They look similar to Sebring bonnets, but more angular. There's a ridge down the center and the radiator intake is larger. I think I'll pass on these because I like the curves on the Sebring bonnets better. Just thought I'd pass this info on.
