Refinishing Switches

Got in the Sprite the other day, and boy is my headlight switch faded. It's almost gray now (instead of black).

On spritenut suggested vinyl paint for plastic refinishing, but I'm not sure the headlight switch is a plastic...(maybe "bakelite" or???)

Anyway, any ideas on the best way to get that looking good again?

I'm in a similar spot: the black plastic (or bakelite or whatever) on my switch cracked and broke off. Any thoughts on replacements?(other than spending $40 for a repro)

For a quick patch on a toggle switch, wipe it clean with some carb or lacquer thinner, and color it in with a black magic marker.
Or *interior in a can* as I call the vinyl paint.
I have had some good luck with the black bumper paint from those modern plastic cars too. My son had a can of it around here for his VW. It is durable and flexible.

Testors paint for plastic models seems to work well.
