Howdy all,
I'm busy working on my 77 Midget's interior (see the 'Glen's 77 Midget' thread) and I have a slight problem with the trim panel that goes in the driver's footwell immediately adjacent to the gas pedal. As built, the factory panel had a cutout to clear the bulge providing clearance for the starter. The bulge was then covered by a piece of carpet.
The panel in my Moss trim kit has no such cutout - it's as big as the one on the transmission tunnel on the passenger's side. The panel will NOT fit. This is an obvious error, but Moss says they have no complaints about this in their sales history. They are looking into it. In the meantime, has anyone had any similar problems? Could I simply have the wrong part for an earlier car that doesn't have the bulge? Or, could the panels be different for right vs left hand drive cars?
I hope to be talking to my Moss tech rep about this in a couple of days and I'd like to be able to compare notes...
Cheers,
Glen
