Fuel Guage hookup

Postby SpriteFighter » Tue Mar 07, 2006 10:37 pm

I checked the back of my fuel gage on my 68 MK IV Sprite, but I couldn't find any marks to tell me which post gets the tank sender wire and which gets the +12v. Car is 12volt, negative ground.

I appreciate any help or clues!

Most fuel gauges have a "T" and a "B" terminal. Look real close.
T= Tank
B= Battery
If you can not find the marks, later cars had qa double spade terminal on the Battery side, just a single on the tank side.
solid green goes to battery, green/black stripe is tank.

No such luck on the markings. Neither post has a letter by it, and they are both single spade terminals.

I installed a complete new wiring harness as part of a long restoration project. When I got around to installing the fuel gage there were no markings on the posts, so I had to resort to experimentation. Sure enough, the first hook up was backwards. Reversed the wires and all was well, no damage done to the gage.
