Radiator that fits?

Postby bugeye1600 » Thu Aug 28, 2008 11:32 pm

I have a Bugeye with a Ford Escort engine. The radiator that I have for it came out of a later Spridget with a similar conversion but, when I went to fit it, the top tank of the radiator touches the bonnet. It is from a Mazda 808 and has had the filler cap removed.
The only way I can gain extra clearance is to tilt the radiator which involves modifying both hose pipes and has other mounting complications, including the thermo fan.
Before I drive myself mad with this radiator, can anyone recommend a radiator that will fit well under a Bugeye bonnet?

Did you see this post under cooling?

Geo Metra, Suzuki Swift radiator evidently fits very well. Mine is a race unit for a Honda Civic with a turbo, can probably get you the model number next time I am over at the shop.

Hi, thanks for that.
I did go to a local wreckers yard and went through his radiator collection. I found a Holden Barina radiator (re-badged Suzuki Swift) and it was 10mm taller than the one I've got. Thinking about it now, though, it may have been narrower and may fit lower between the chassis rails. I'll look into it.
Cheers
Steve
