Zenith Stromberg Weber DGV Carburetor conversion

Postby pankeyg » Fri Aug 19, 2005 9:27 pm

I'm thinking about switching my carburetor on my 1978 MG Midget to a Weber DGV carb. I've read some postings on the web where people have had problems with their Zenith Stromberg and they have made the swap -- successfully and happily. I think my carburetor is a Zenith Stromberg and I'd rather not spend time and money fulling around with it if it is a pain.

Does anyone have a related experience? Can anyone provide advice?
Cheers,

Weber guys swear by them. Non-weber guys swear at them. The tricky part will be getting the jetting right on the Weber...your best bet would be to find someone that has exactly the same setup already installed and sorted out (same engine, same manifold, same carb, etc.) and then copy his setup (including the jets).

Even then, it's not a sure thing, but the good news is that once you get the Weber set up correctly, you should be good.

You may even want to consider some dyno time to really get it fine tuned. Vizard's book may help as well.
