In 1961, when the Bugeye had steel wheels, the wire wheel option must have looked quite amazing! EAO's new set of wheels, shod with Dunlop Racing tyres as used in period, although the original size (5.25 x 13) are no longer manufactured along with the metal valve inner tubes that were fitted at the time. Owners are now forced to use 4.50 x 13 tyres combined with rubber valve type tubes.

Race number '4' appeared on EAO at the BRDC 23rd Empire Trophy meeting held at Silverstone on 8th July 1961. The GT cars had their race numbers edged in yellow, while it is thought the Saloons had theirs edged in red. (See page 11 in the sub-album 'From the Archives... The 1961 Season').

March 2008, and EAO is tantalisingly close to completion. The engine has yet to run - I'm working towards an initial start-up date of 12th April. This will coincide with the cars re-registration on 12th April 1961 from GUY 603 to 410 EAO, and the bodywork completion date by Renaissance Restorations on 12th April 1996.

12th April 2008. EAO is pushed out into the sunlight for the first time. Final preparations were then made before the 'big moment'.

It runs! A great moment - worth the eighteen year wait. My thanks go to Richard Wiffin, Colin Pascoe, John Davies and Julian Jordan for their help and support on the day.
